Who it is for. This support is available exclusively for international employees who will be employed through a Roots local entity under our Employer of Record service. Visa and immigration support is not offered as a standalone service, or for people who will be employed directly by the client or by another company.

What the support can include

✓Immigration and eligibility assessment
✓Sponsorship of the applicable work visa, residence permit or work authorization
✓Preparation and coordination of required immigration documentation
✓Guidance on apostilles, background checks, certified translations and other supporting documents
✓Coordination with immigration authorities and local immigration specialists
✓Assistance with immigration appointments, registrations and local formalities
✓Support with temporary residence and work authorization applications
✓Renewal and ongoing immigration compliance support
✓Coordination of dependent and family immigration processes, where applicable
Once the required work authorization is obtained, Roots can manage the employee's local onboarding, payroll, statutory contributions, benefits and ongoing employment compliance through our EOR structure.

Processing times

Processing times vary depending on the country, the type of visa or work authorization, the employee's nationality and individual circumstances, the documentation required, and the processing times of the relevant government authorities.

Approval timelines are ultimately determined by immigration authorities, so Roots cannot guarantee a specific completion or approval date. Our team coordinates and follows the process, assists with the documentation, and keeps the client and the employee informed throughout.

Costs

Immigration costs vary depending on the country, the type of application, the employee's nationality and circumstances, and the applicable government and third-party fees.

Once the case has been reviewed and Roots confirms that immigration support can be provided, we communicate the applicable service or sponsorship fees, along with any additional estimated immigration costs, before proceeding.

Case-by-case assessment

Eligibility, documentation, government fees, professional fees and processing times depend on the employee's nationality, immigration status, position, destination country and visa category.

Some visas and work permits are tied to a specific employer, position or employment arrangement. Roots reviews the employee's current status and documentation before onboarding to determine whether an existing authorization can be kept, transferred or modified, or whether a new application is required.
