Working remotely in Mexico

Working remotely in Mexico

This country has seen a significant boom in recent years. Want to know how?

Even in the years before the COVID-19 pandemic, Mexico was seeing an increase in digital nomads taking up residence in big Mexican cities as well as smaller towns across the country.

Now, with remote working being more popular than ever, remote workers from the United States, Canada, and other parts of the world are leaving their home country behind and making Mexico their new home base.

While digital nomads have the flexibility to live almost anywhere in the world, they recognize that Mexico is a great option mainly because of the cost of living.

Compared to major cities in the United States such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City, the average cost of living is much more affordable in Mexico. The exchange rate is favorable for a remote worker earning USD and spending MXN (pesos).

Mexico also has fast internet, nice coworking spaces, and a good cultural balance between lifestyle and work.

US and Canadian companies have been hiring in Mexico in bulk since the pandemic. With more of the global workforce shifting to remote and hybrid models, more companies are looking for nearshore options to save money. For North America, that option most often points to Mexico and the rest of Latin America.
